Aquarius Season 2025: Power Illuminated
We’re in the middle of Winter, that could only mean one thing: the Sun has now entered Aquarius. For the past couple of weeks, when the Sun was traveling through Capricorn, we were invited to spend some time in solitude to get away from all the outside noise and to get perspective about how we have been living our lives. The question to ask ourselves during a Capricorn season is: have we been living according to the dictates of our essential character or have we been influenced to work toward goals that aren’t truly ours? If we took honest inventory and aligned action, then we’ve recalibrated ourselves, and now that Aquarius season has arrived, we can continue to honor our intentions.
The transition of Capricorn into Aquarius season is an interesting one because it is the only solar seasonal change that is ruled by the same planet: Saturn. Sidebar: Saturn is the classical ruler of Aquarius, whereas Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius; both planets rule Aquarius, but for the longest time, Saturn, was the only planetary ruler of Aquarius. That means we have back-to-back zodiacal seasons that are infused with Saturnian vibes, and if we know what the ringed planet is all about, we can best harness its energy.
Sometimes we can be swayed by the outside world, be it, our family, peers, culture, or social media, to take actions that aren’t reflective of our soul. Therefore, Capricornian times invite us to course correct and align our actions with our intentions, and then, Aquarian times invite us to continue to honor who we say we are and what we want to do. In one word, Aquarius represents individuality.
This is how Saturn links Capricorn and Aquarius: once we’re clear on the worthy goals we’re after, we’re going to run into some challenges. To Aquarius, Saturn represents groups, blockages, authority, and restrictions. Without being part of a group, how can Aquarius know its uniqueness? Without blockages, how can Aquarius think outside the box? Without authority, how can Aquarius question those in charge? Without restrictions, how can Aquarius be free?
This Aquarius season, honor its classical planetary ruler by staying true to who you are. Continue going down the road that YOU chose, even if it’s the road less traveled. You might run into some hiccups along the way. Some of them might be familiar faces. If you’re doing what’s truly unique to you, then that might mean it’s going to be something different than what everyone around you is doing. That means that the people closest to you might feel you’re going off the deep end because you’re taking a path that they haven’t seen before. They most likely have your best interest at heart, but if you honor what’s on your heart, you might have to break a few hearts. To honor the Aquarius energy in you is to not succumb to peer pressure, conformity, and compromise. You must have absolute loyalty to your truth.
Aquarius Season 2025 Transit: The Sun-Pluto Conjunction
On the second day of Aquarius season, the Sun linked up with Pluto in Aquarius. The Sun is the illuminator, whereas Pluto is the terminator. Two celestial bodies with differing agendas. On this day, we got a minuscule taste of what our personal and collective Pluto in Aquarius story for the next 20 years will be all about. The Sun revealed some of the Aquarian shadows we’ve been hiding and avoiding. And boy, did the Sun put the spotlight on Pluto that day.
Although the Sun and Pluto met up at the same point in the sky at 4 am PST on January 21st, on January 20th, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the United States' 47th president. At his inauguration, we had some of the wealthiest men in America, and the world, in attendance.
We had:
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, owner of X
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon
According to Forbes magazine, the combined worth of the billionaires in attendance was $1.35 trillion.
On January 20th, The Sun was illuminating those in power (Pluto) of technological companies (Aquarius) on the day that the United States had its transition of executive power. I can’t make this stuff up. Astrology never ceases to amaze me.
Will the technological powerhouses support the common folk as the cost of living goes up and more jobs will be taken over by AI? Or will they continue getting richer and preying on the working and middle classes, igniting a revolution to fight for the unalienable rights that our United States’ fathers wanted for us: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?
Those are the questions that we will have to wrestle with these next 20 years. So what can we do to make the most out of Pluto in Aquarius? In my last blog, I explored this topic, but I wanted to provide more substance to this question, especially because I got the idea for this as the Sun was approaching Pluto.
The Aquarian Shadows Pluto is Revealing
Aquarius’ evolutionary goal is individuality perfected; to be free and to be one’s raw, spontaneous, and unedited self. But also, part of the Water-Bearer’s aim is to also help the collective have the same liberties that allow oneself to be free. Now that Pluto is entering this freedom-loving frequency of the Zodiac wheel, it’s testing us to see if we’re really about that life.
Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Bearer, who pours the waters of knowledge.
Pluto always brings up the shadow side of whatever sign it is traveling through. So Pluto is going to reveal the Aquarius shadows of:
The emotional coldness that arises when we allow our stubbornness to not be open to innovative solutions and better perspectives.
The emptiness and alienation we feel when we ignore our authentic path.
Pluto in Aquarius Shadow #1
Being too rigid to listen to people who have differing ideas and values from us can lead us down a dark, icy path. I belong to no political party, but I will say I have more liberal values. During the first Trump administration, I didn’t want to speak to people who voted for him. So, if closing myself off to people who didn’t share my view of how a president’s character should be, created division in my life, I knew this was creating division on a societal level. There’s no denying, at least in the United States, that we feel divided more than ever. Only when tragedy happens do we feel united as a country. But do we really want to continue living this way where tragedy is the temporary solution to feeling whole?
I am spiritual. But I’m also not perfect. Avoiding Trumpers wasn’t so spiritual of me, because their ideas, values, and actions that ran counter to mine, were triggering me. And if there’s a trigger, then there’s an attachment. But living a spiritual life is to practice non-attachment.
As I’m progressing deeper into my spirituality, I recognize that triggers are gold mines. Before, if someone disagreed with me or said something negative about me, my ego would take a blow. Now, when I get triggered, I understand there’s an opportunity to heal. If I get triggered, I allow the feelings to run their course through my body and energy field so they no longer have control over me. It’s easier said than, but if you learn to roll with the punches, then you’ll live a more graceful life.
To be spiritual is to practice non-attachment. This doesn’t mean that reaching a state of nirvana is the goal. Not at all. Spirituality is a practice, and if we want to cultivate a more loving, peaceful, and harmonious world, we’re going to have to work on healing our triggers. We don’t have to agree with other’s points of view or belief systems, but let’s be open to having discussions, because if we’re not, then the shadow side of Aquarius is going to come out–and it has already!
The dark side of the Water-Bearer is to become so uncompromising that we start losing connection with our hearts. When that happens, we can begin to enjoy seeing bad things happen to the opposing team, and I’m not talking about trivial things, I’m talking about life-or-death-type situations. We saw this with the murder of the health insurance CEO.
On December 4th, 2024, in New York City, Luigi Mangione became an instant “heart-throb” when he murdered the UnitedHealth CEO, Brian Thompson. No matter what team you were on, red or blue, it felt like everyone was rooting for Luigi. In the comment section of the popular Instagram account @sainthoax, I saw comments such as “I can fix him” and “I will be visiting him in prison.” Others were claiming that he couldn’t have done the crime because “... Luigi and I went to see Wicked 8 times that day.”
Finally, there was something that everyone could come together and agree upon; we all know of someone who has been fucked over by an insurance company. This type of thinking isn’t morally right, however, and it also isn’t morally right for insurance companies to deny people the coverage they need just so they can deepen their pockets. But, two wrongs don’t make a right.
What this incident showed me is that no matter what walk of life you come from, we can all unite together to fight against injustice and stand up for causes that benefit everyone. Aquarian energy loves to stand up to authority and create equality for all. And Pluto can radically transform the way things are. So, the Pluto in Aquarius questions are:
Do we have to wait for tragedy to strike for us to unite?
Or, can we recognize that we’re all human beings trying to pursue a life of health, happiness, and freedom?
And can we, as a global community, recognize that it’s not a left vs right fight we’re up against?
So then who are we up against? Well, it’s not who, but rather what we’re up against. Because on the surface, it seems like it’s really an us (the working and middle classes) vs. the 1 percenters. And it is true, that those in charge are taking advantage of human labor and making it harder for most people to even have a suitable living wage. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Those in power have not only taken advantage of humans but of our home planet as well. They haven’t been good stewards of Earth. But Earth is a living, breathing entity. It knows what its inhabitants are up to and is coming up with clever ways to return to equilibrium.
Earth is saying, “Oh you want to keep cutting down forests, running species into extinction, dumping trash into the ocean, and destroying habitable ecosystems? Okay, there’s a whole lot of you being born who are greedy, who just take, take, take, and aren’t being responsible and mindful of how you treat me. There are too many of you, so here are a few ways that I’m going to do that will decrease some of your species. Natural disasters are going to increase because that is just how things work when my ecosystem is out of balance. Hopefully, this can wake you up because homes and lives are going to be lost. You’re also going to consume more plastics because that’s what happens when you don’t responsibly dump your trash. Plastic is going to get into your body’s system and decrease the sperm count in males, making it harder to have children [1]. Hopefully, this can wake you up and realize that consuming a credit card’s worth of plastic each week isn’t healthy or normal at all and that you need to do something about it [2].”
Our planet is not dumb. It knows what it’s doing. There are too many of us inhabiting Earth, and more than that, we’re doing a terrible job at tending to her needs. So she’s coming up with ways to decrease our population. Remember, Aquarius wants the best for everyone, every being, and everything. And who’s the culprit behind creating all the disharmony across the globe? Humans. Naturally, Earth is doing its job to get back to homeostasis.
If we sit back and see what’s going on, however, if the working or middle-class individuals were in the same position as a conglomerate CEO, then we wouldn’t be surprised for him or her to take similar action. The way a capitalist business operates is that every year it needs to make more money. To increase the company’s revenue, they have to come up with ways to cut costs. We’ve all heard the stories right? American companies go to countries like China to pay for cheap labor. Or, businesses using cheap synthetic materials that are bad for the environment. Long story short, if the company isn’t increasing its profits, then someone is losing their job. So it’s not the rich and powerful we’re up against per se, but rather something else.
We’re all part of the same team when it comes to the essentials of being human. Therefore, instead of trying to prove others wrong, sit down, and listen. You may not walk away with convincing others to radically change their worldly perspective, but you will plant a seed. That seed can take root in their hearts so that little by little it can open up. What happens when people live with open hearts? They have compassion, they understand, and most importantly, they love.
Here in the States, on the same day as Trump’s inauguration, it was also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day, which one key quote of his, serves as a reminder as to what the solution is for humans to unite and be whole:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
As cliche as it sounds, love is the answer.
Is this why Valentine’s Day occurs during Aquarius season? According to History, “In the late 5th century A.D., Pope Gelasius I eliminated the pagan celebration of Lupercalia and declared February 14 a day to celebrate the martyrdom of Saint Valentine instead.” So before the celebration of Saint Valentine, there was the pagan holiday of Lupercalia, which “was an ancient pagan festival held each year in Rome on February 15. Although Valentine’s Day shares its name with a martyred Christian saint, some historians believe the holiday is actually an offshoot of Lupercalia. Unlike Valentine’s Day, however, Lupercalia was a bloody, violent, and sexually charged celebration awash with animal sacrifice, random matchmaking, and coupling in the hopes of warding off evil spirits and infertility. “ A pretty unconventional and weird celebration to dispel evil and promote healthy fertility don’t you think? That’s the Aquarian spirit! Our first instincts don’t go straight to Aquarius when we think of romantic love, however, the Water-Bearer does symbolize a drive for community and humanitarian goals—reflecting more of a collective love.
Lupercalia, also known as Lupercal, was a pastoral festival of Ancient Rome observed annually on February 15 to purify the city, promoting health and fertility.
Ignoring, silencing, attacking, or even murdering is not the answer. “Hate cannot drive out hate.” Silencing or canceling the opponent is like putting a bandaid over the disease. In order to heal, we need to get to the root of the disease. So it ain’t the rich and powerful who we’re up against, but rather a state of quality. We have a hate problem.
The root of the disease is that humans are still a species of great apes who are egocentric, drunk on anger, and fighting for territory. We need to learn how to transcend our egos and recognize the connectivity between us. We all come from the same source. We all aspire to thrive and live our best lives. So can we heal the territorial mindset and learn to share resources and live a harmonious life with the natural world? Can we learn how to love?
This is one of the Aquarian shadows that Pluto is revealing to us: how having a closed heart makes us emotionally cold which in turn makes us turn a blind eye to the suffering of those who aren’t on our “team” (be it our ethnic, cultural, national, sports, political, etc. team).
Next time you have an encounter with someone who doesn’t agree with your outlook, instead of trying to win the argument, just be curious and listen. Listening will do much more than trying to prove why they’re wrong. Listening can begin to open up people’s hearts so that they can recognize we’re not all so different. We’re all part of the human team.
Now, I know some people just spew hate and it’ll be a lot smarter to not spark up a conversation with them, so we can’t plant that seed of love in everyone, but if we can tilt the scales just over 50%, then that will build momentum to unite us all. Instead of the divide and conquer tactic that the powerful have been employing on us, we are learning how to unite and prevail.
Can we set aside cultural, societal, and political differences and see that at the core of it, there are universal values that all humans share? A need for love, home, food, community, health, and happiness. That’s all we want. So can we learn to love one another and bond together to fight for those human universals? Or will the rich get…? You know the rest of the story.
Pluto in Aquarius Shadow #2
For everyone on planet Earth, from now until 2044, we’re being invited to transcend cultural and societal programming to honor what’s on our hearts. Whether we like it or not, humans are conditioned by their upbringing. Our family, peers, school, community, ethnicity, and nationality all have an impact on who we are. They’ve all helped mold us into productive and normal citizens of our societies, but those conditions have also limited us from fully realizing our potential.
Back in the day, I’m talking way back, I’m talking about tens of thousands of years back when we lived in hunter-and-gatherer communities, it was critical for our survival to fit in. If we had differing ideas about how we could do things better or if we spoke out of line, then that quite possibly could’ve meant we would get kicked out of the tribe, and being out in the wilderness all by ourselves most probably meant we were going to be eaten by a saber-toothed tiger. In short, being different would increase your chances of dying.
Millennia has passed now, and for most of us humans, we can say we live in pretty safe environments, but there’s still an innate drive to be liked by those we share similar values. Now, if you have a better way of doing things, if you want to pursue a different career than what your family has done for generations, or if you want to dress differently, you won’t die–so that’s good–but you may receive some flack for doing so. People don’t want to be wrong. Your family “wants what’s best for you.” And you’ll be made fun of because you’re not dressed like everyone else. And you know what? Who cares?
If you have an innovative solution to an old problem, people might try to disparage you, but now, you can make a business out of your outside-of-the-box idea. If you follow a unique career path, your family’s feelings might get hurt, but you won’t have to live a lie and actually live a fulfilling life. If you stick to your originality when it comes to fashion, you might get made fun of, but you’ll be a trendsetter, and in the world we live in today, you can make a whole lot of money doing so. No matter how crazy your ideas sound, if they truly matter to you, pursue them. Your sanity and purpose depend on it.
The scary part about not honoring your authentic path is that you’ll live a normal life. A normal life of going through the motions. A normal life where the skies always look grey. A normal life where you wake up and say “Same shit, different toilet.” You’ll be living a normal life from the outside, but a feeling of coldness and meaninglessness on the inside.
Furthermore, you may be successful, have a home and family, and be a responsible citizen who pays his or her taxes, but people notice something is missing. And you know it because you feel alienated. No one understands you. Succumbing to the tribal pressure of conventionality will make you feel like you’re living someone else’s lie. That essence that makes you radiate is missing. Everyone then begins to notice that there is an aloofness to you. The individual who ignores their heart’s desires and conforms to societal expectations of what makes one happy, will close their hearts, be emotionally cold, and live a dull life.
Power to the Individual, Power to the People
That is the highest invitation available to us from Pluto in Aquarius.
So, follow your authentic path.
Lead with love.
Be yourself.
Be open-minded.
Be curious.
United we rise,
Andre
