Cultivating Meaning in Living: Unlocking Your Sun’s Sign and House Placement

In every birth chart consultation I conduct, I inform my client that just like the Sun is the star of our solar system, the Sun is the star of their chart. The Sun is the gravitational center of our solar system and it's the gravitational center of your identity. The Sun holds everything together. Without the Sun’s energy, we wouldn’t be alive. Just like we need Vitamin D from the Sun so we won’t get depressed, understanding the sign and house your Sun is in can help you get out of bed each morning. In short, understanding your Sun’s placement can help you cultivate meaning in your life.

In this blog, I will concisely explain how to unlock your Sun’s sign and house placement. Albert Einstein once said, “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.” So that’s exactly what I’m going to do here. If you want to explore this topic more, I created a free masterclass that you can check out here ‘The Big 3 Formula’ and if you want an even thorough explanation of your Sun’s, plus Moon’s and Rising’s placement, then you can order this 3.5 + hour-long course I created ‘The Primal Triad’. PS, you get 20% off if you sign up for the free masterclass.

The Sun

Ask a random individual what their sign is, and 90% of the time, they’re going to give you an answer. Even if they don’t believe in astrology, most people know what their sign is. What that question is really asking is, “What time of the year were you born in?” In other words, what sign was the Sun traveling through when you were born? Each of the four seasons has a beginning, middle, and end. 4 x 3 = the 12 astrological signs. Depending on what time of the year you were born will determine the foundational energetic essence that you will be imprinted with.

Not just the Sun, but the Moon and every planet in our solar system is in a sign and a house. Each planet has something to teach you, but just understanding your Sun's placement will help you make a stand in this life. Why? As I wrote earlier, the Sun is the gravitational center of who you are. The Sun represents your identity. Feeding your Sun what it wants–the sign and house it’s in–will help enhance your vitality, honor your authenticity, and maintain your sanity. Meaning, identity, vitality, authenticity, and sanity. As you can see, there’s a reason why the Sun is the star of your chart.

Now that we know what the Sun represents, let’s get into how you can make your star shine brighter.

The Sun in a Sign

Depending on what sign your Sun is in will help you learn what evolutionary goal you’re here to work towards. Knowing what the highest frequency of your Sun sign is will get your bearings straight so you know why and how to aim your arrow to find meaning in living. We can go into depth about each star sign, but I want to make this blog “as simple as possible, but no simpler.” Therefore, here’s how you supply your Sun with the vitamins it needs to thrive.

The Sun in a House

The best way to differentiate between signs and houses is that you are your signs but you do your houses. Signs are motivational whereas houses are behavioral. Now that you know why and how you’re supposed to aim your bow and arrow, let’s find out where exactly your bullseye is.

1ST HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 1st house, then you’re here to be a leader in one way or another and live a life of freedom, autonomy, and self-sufficiency.

2ND HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 2nd house, you’re here to own your worth and enhance your self-confidence by learning how to materially support yourself through concrete, real-world accomplishments.

3RD HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 3rd house, you’re here to find your voice through following your curiosity and then transmit those interests back into the world through being a storyteller, communicator, or teacher of some sort.

4TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 4th house, you’re here to find your natural home, establish loving, long-term relationships, and honor your internal world.

5TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 5th house, you’re here to log hours doing things that bring you joy and figure out a way to creatively express yourself.

6TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 6th house, you’re here to find the right teachers who will help you learn the skills that you need to do meaningful work.

7TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 7th house, you’re here to establish relationships based on equality through learning who to trust and how to trust.

8TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 8th house, you’re here to own your power through shadow work, allowing death to serve as your counselor, and accepting your sexuality.

9TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 9th house, you’re here to enhance your perspective in life by breaking your normal patterns of behavior by traveling, learning, and exposing yourself to exotic and alien cultures.

10TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 10th house, you’re here to be a gift to your community and feel like you have a mission in life.

11TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 11th house, you’re here to get clear about what your long-term goals are in this life and then set your priorities in order and align yourself with allies so you can achieve your dreams.

12TH HOUSE

If you have your Sun in the 12th house, you’re here to find activities that help you transcend your ego and connect with consciousness.

Putting it All Together: Putting The Sun in a Sign and a House

Now that we know a little bit about what having your Sun in its sign and house means, let’s see how we can combine these three symbols so you can put them all together. Since there are 144 possible combinations, I won’t go through all of them, so I’ll share some examples of celebrities to see this in action.

Muhammad Ali

One of the greatest athletes, Muhammad Ali, had his Sun in Capricorn and the 6th house. So, I can say, that for Mr. Ali to enhance his vitality (Sun), he was here to cultivate integrity (Capricorn) and find meaningful work (6th house). To help him be authentic to who he was (Sun), he needed time alone to get clear about what mountains he wanted to climb (Capricorn). His Mount Everest (Capricorn) was definitely going to be work-related (6th house). Therefore, he needed to find the right teachers who would help him learn the craft that he wanted to excel in so he could find meaning in his work (6th house). Not only did he excel in his craft of boxing (Sun in the 6th house), but he also remained true to his values (Sun in Capricorn) even if it got him thrown in jail.

Deepak Chopra

A world-renowned spiritual teacher, Deepak Chopra, has his Sun in Libra and the 8th house. To help Deepak honor his identity (Sun), he’s here to create harmony (Libra) in the world through exploring taboo subjects like transformation, death, and shadow work (8th house). To maintain his sanity (Sun), learning to make the unconscious conscious (8th house) helps him release tension (Libra). Even though the 8th house is serious and intense work, you can feel Deepak’s gracefulness in how he carries himself because of his Libran Sun.

Marianne Williamson

Marianne Williamson, a spiritual teacher, American author, speaker, and politician, has a Cancer Sun in the 2nd House. To make a stand in her life (Sun), Marianne is here to spread love (Cancer) by taking concrete action so she can own her worth (2nd house). Cancers have a natural healing aura and she can make money (2nd house) by figuring out a way to spread her nurturance out into the world. In order for her to not go crazy (Sun), she needs to cultivate a loving home (Cancer) so that she can enjoy some stability and peace in her life (2nd house). Not only has she been able to successfully spread love through her book–one of her most famous books is literally entitled ‘A Return to Love’--but she has tried to bring that open-heartedness (Cancer) into the United States by doing something challenging (2nd house), running for president.

But Wait, There’s More

This is just scratching the surface of your Sun’s placement. I can spend 20 out of a 90-120 minute consultation just discussing your Sun because it is that crucial in understanding who you are. There are a few options available if you want to dive deeper into understanding your Sun placement.

  1. You can order a birth chart consultation.

  2. You can sign up to receive the free ‘Big 3 Formula’ masterclass

  3. Or, you can purchase ‘The Primal Triad Course.’

Hopefully, this was a great starting point for you in unlocking your Sun so you can know how, why, and where to aim your bow and arrow to cultivate meaning in your life—the bullseye of life. Just like the Sun provides you with vitamin D, feed your star what it needs by following its sign and house placement.

Shine bright!
